Origin Story

A group of experienced logistics professionals knew there was a better way. We understood the nuances and requirements of all ports, all types of cargo, and over the road trucking. From terminal operations to driver requirements across North America, we were the subject matter experts and had already become valued resources in the industry.

Our leadership team wanted to provide a premium service backed by an aspirational brand. Premium and aspirational in trucking?  Say what?

Together, we envisioned a philosophy and success factors. This was not going to be your normal trucking company. We put together these core beliefs:

We planned to build a positive team and family spirit with our customers, teammates, partners and vendors. 

The Last Piece of the Puzzle

With culture and service addressed, we moved on to the tech piece. At the lead, Brian knew finding the right tech was imperative. We looked at various options from older legacy software that met most of our needs, BUT didn’t have the look, collaboration tools, or driver app. It was always thought that this software needed to be in the cloud and be accessible on any device. No one really had it all. We thought about building our own platform, which would have been an enormous task and certainly would have taken too long.

A couple of months into searching for the right tech, Brian met Jeff—one of the Turvo founders. It had much of what we wanted: the look, the collaboration tool, the driver app. With image being important, we needed something beautiful by design, on a current technology stack, and in the cloud.

The Gamechanger

In 2017, Turvo wasn’t made for drayage or multi-leg shipments. Port X Logistics collaborated with the Turvo team to create powerful tools that met our needs and our customers needs. We were fortunate to be an early adopter and got to give our input on the equipment types, trans-load process, testing the driver app, and implementing features that would enhance our customer’s experience

Turvo’s ease of use, search capabilities, ability to share information up and down the supply chain, and the driver app made it the only option for Port X.

As soon as we confirm with a customer, we track the vessel, monitor terminal availability, alert of any holds, schedule pick up appointment, dray to delivery OR our trans-load facility, take pictures your cargo, deliver, and upload the POD on the driver app.

All the while, you have complete visibility every step of the way with minimal emails and phone calls.

Our process and actually living that process is what allows us to have success at Port X Logistics. Many talk about SOPs, but they don’t really follow through. We always talk about grit and commitment. We are willing to do whatever it takes to follow the process and hold ourselves accountable.
