The “WHY?” is the Story

2 minute read

It’s gearing up to be a busy but extremely fun week for our Port X Logistics LLC Buffalo Team, as not only do we have Brian Kempisty arriving to town to help the Leadership Team work on our initiatives and continue to strategize on how to stay true to our pillars, Culture, Service, Tech, and Trucks, but we also get to mix in some fun as well.

By fun, I mean FUN. This Saturday, Leadership Team member and one of our OG’s…Tyler Pulbrook, will marry his better half, Stacy. Between the events before and after and the wedding itself, it’s going to be an epic story in the making, one to rival some of our Leadership retreats for sure.

Tyler Pulbrook is a huge fan of the show, The Office, and one of his all-time favorite quotes is one that I used for my Weekly Thought (of which I send to the entire team each and every Mon AM).

“I wish there was a way to know you’re in the good old days before you’ve actually left them.” ~ Andy Bernard in ‘The Office’

I chose this as not only a nod towards Tyler and his big week but also because it’s a good reminder to all of us Port X Logistics LLC to remember the ‘WHY?’ of it all.

Working in the logistical trenches day-in-and-day-out can be draining; small worries inadvertently become big worries, minor issues magnified, and one bad slice means the whole pie is crap.

Of course, when out of the trench and viewing from thousands of feet above, it’s not as bad as we think. As one of Colin Powell’s 13 rules to live by said: “It ain’t as bad you think. It will look better in the morning.”

Our ‘WHY?’ of Port X Logistics is that we knew:

There was a better way to treat people (Culture)

There was a better way to help our customers (Service)

There was a better way to collaborate with our Customers, Drivers, Partners and Colleagues (Tech)

There was a better way to control the movement of our freight (Trucks)

There are very few people that I would put above Tyler Pulbrook when it comes to treating people; he is an elite talent at this. Hell, as I write this, he is door-dashing McDonald’s breakfast in for the whole office to bring some energy to a Tuesday morning, hahaha.

We’re going to work our tails off this week and continue to strive to be better with our initiatives but come this weekend; we’re going to celebrate in true Port X Logistics LLC style the marriage of the man, the myth, the legend, Tyler Pulbrook and his beautiful Bride, Stacy.

Cheers to you both, your Port X Logistics LLC Family loves you!!
