The News
Make sure to keep an eye out for the New York and New Jersey Ports. These ports have seen a dramatic increase in congestion. Empty returns continue to be a problem in these areas as well. There seems to be empty return limitations for Hapag in NY/NJ. The other SSLs seem to be accepting now. Wan Hai is only accepting double moves. So if you don’t have an empty to return, you cannot pull a full container from the port.
With the extension of the lockdown in Shanghai, we are expected to see similar backlog/bottle neck effects as last year which will include the empties.
